Uzodimma Commissions Owerri North High Court Complex, Commends Council SOLAD

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has commissioned a High Court complex built at Orie Uratta in Owerri North Local Government Area headquarters, commending the Sole Administrator of the Council, Barr. Tony Umezuruike for the initiative.

Addressing the audience at the commissioning on Wednesday, the Governor said that though the project was not accommodated in the 2023 budget, but the SOLAD has demonstrated prudent management of resources as well as consciousness about the priority needs of his people “and used his allocations to build the court.”

He therefore congratulated Barr. Umezuruike and charged all other SOLADs to, not only emulate him, but to be “prudent and apply the resources available to them to the benefit of their people.”

Governor Uzodimma said that his administration is gradually closing the gaps in the decayed infrastructure he met on assumption of office, reminding the people that “government is not a one man affair, but the business of all of us, and collectively we can make the difference.”

He noted that Imo people are good people who know what is good and bad. “When they see what is good they appreciate it, the same way they condemn what is bad.”

He maintained that with his government what looked bad is gradually coming back to look good. “The conscience in every man is the God in him.”

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Bar COC Akaolisa said the project is a fulfilment of the campaign promises of the governor and thanked him for keeping his promise to the people.

Akaolisa also commended the Sole Administrator and the Chief Judge for facilitating the realisation of the project, which he said was meant to bring justice nearer to the people.

The chairman Nigeria Bar Association, Owerri Branch, Barr Ugochukwu Alinnor appreciated the Governor for his efforts in turning the fortunes of Imo State around and appealed to him to beef up security around the court premises.

In his welcome address, Bar Umezuruike described the day as a special day for Owerri North.

He said that the High Court complex was recovered, rehabilitated and reconstructed in the spirit of the Governor’s 3R mantra.

He also expressed gratitude to the Governor for encouraging him and giving him the opportunity to execute the project as well as the Chief Judge for her positive role in ensuring that the project was realised.
